Colrena Johnson obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills in 1985, where she graduated magna cum laude and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law, which she attended on an academic scholarship, in 1989. Prior to joining Willis | DePasquale, LLP, Ms. Johnson was a partner at Callahan, McCune & Willis.
Ms. Johnson has more than 20 years experience in all lines of insurance coverage and bad faith, general liability, suspicious and fraudulent claims, and errors and omissions defense, including architects and engineers, attorneys, accountants, real estate agents, escrow officers, contractors and subcontractors, from insurance carriers including Design Professionals Insurance Company, Executive Risk, CNA, The Hartford, Commercial Union, Navigators Insurance, Farmers Insurance, Golden Eagle, AIG, American Equity Insurance, First American Title Insurance Company, Universal Underwriters Insurance, Sentry Insurance, Atlantic Insurance, Praetorian Insurance and One Beacon, among others.
Ms. Johnson is admitted to practice before all of the state and federal courts in the state of California and has been admitted pro hac vice in the state of Arizona on numerous occasions. Ms. Johnson has been a contributing author to California Causes of Action (James Publishing), Breach of Contract (Insurance) and Breach of the Implied Covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing (Insurance).
Her published appellate decisions include Cunningham v. Universal Underwriters Insurance Co. (2002), 98 Cal. App.4th1141, and some of her notable victories include Green v. First American Title Insurance Company (2004), summary judgment granted in bad faith action, affirmed on appeal; Frazee v. Seely (2004), summary judgment granted in favor of defendants in legal malpractice action, affirmed on appeal; Kotsubo v. Leach International Corporation (2004), summary judgment granted in favor of defendant risk consulting company; and Waterbed v. DSMT, Inc.
